My nutrition coach, Tyler Mayer at Tyler’s Nutrition Training & Fitness, has me have a small “protein only” meal immediately after any of my cardio sessions to promote protein synthesis.
Whenever I can get some sprints or a short steady state run in first thing in the morning, my go-to protein of choice is this Coffee Protein Shake. I’ve nicknamed it the “Proppuccino” because it tastes JUST like a Starbucks Vanilla Frappuccino!
I don’t know about you, but I’m a HUGE coffee drinker and need that caffeine flowing freely in the morning, so it’s a perfect post-cardio shake for my early morning runs!
- 1 Scoop About Time Vanilla Whey Protein
- 6 Ice Cubes
- 3/4 Cup Coffee, chilled (or 3/4 Cup Water & 1 packet of instant coffee)
- Liquid Vanilla Stevia (to taste)
Throw all ingredients in a blender and blend! If you want an extra treat, top with cacao nibs and enjoy!
